Wheelies

A basic wheelie is to lift the motorcycle off the ground, either by power or by using the clutch.

There are many variants of the basic wheelie ...

Power Wheelies - This wheelie can be achieved either by accelerating quickly in a low gear, or by touching the power belt and then cutting the acceleration.

The clutch is made either by sliding the clutch lever while accelerating, or by fully pulling the clutch, increasing the speed and then quickly releasing or "unloading" the clutch.

The "circle" is a wheelie made by traveling entirely in a circle, which is very difficult to accomplish. Even more difficult is a wheeled circle with the rider's right foot on his left foot, called "Ralph Loui."

The "high chair" is a wheelie with the rider's feet over the handlebars, while the "tank wheelie" is one in which the rider sits on the tank with his legs spread. A "frog" is a wheelie in which the rider sits on the tank, and a "seat stander" is performed with the rider standing on the saddle of the motorcycle. Sitting on the windshield while cycling at 12 o'clock is called a "watchtower."

"12 o'clock" is a very high wheelie, past the normal balance point of the motorcycle. A variant of this is the "coaster", in which the bike is balanced without the driving force of the engine, ie with the clutch pulled. The motorcycle is pulled so far back beyond the balance point of the wheel that the rider must constantly apply the rear brake to prevent his car from falling backwards, causing it to slow down. A rider can pull the clutch to create the effect of a wheelie without engine noise. Instead, some motorcyclists will pull the clutch and attach the engine to its speed limiter, called a "speed limiter coaster."

The opposite of 12 o'clock is a wheelie in which the impulse is used to lean forward, lifting the rear wheel as it continues to advance at high speed - this is called a "nose wheelie".

A wheelie performed by two or more men on the same motorcycle is called a "man-dom."
